If you are like me, you crave quiet time in which you can withdraw your focus from the hectic outer spaces of our world, and bring your focus to experiencing expansive inner peace. In this workshop we will emphasize open space and minimalistic approaches in art journaling, with a specific emphasis on abstract expressions and gut level impulses. Our attention will fall into literally ‘listening to our guts’ as we express ourselves in more free and abstract ways in our art journal, and we will begin to see our pages with all of their marks, textures, and layers as a mirror reflection of our interior world. Cultivating and inviting inner freedom and a sense of expansiveness, we will lighten our internal pressures about
perfection as we go along.
I will share mixed media techniques, and guide you throughout your process. I do not guide workshops on technique alone, nor do I teach you to make art that looks like mine. This workshop will be conceptually based, and you will have my full attention and plenty of one on one time. I guide workshops with an open heart and high intention to hold a space for you to find your unique, authentic expression.
My workshops always sell out, are filled with spectacular people, and are a safe, warm, and freeing environment where you get to bring all that you are and watch magic unfold from your own fingertips.
The workshop will be held at Wacky Nut Farm. A sustainably designed, environmentally friendly equestrian facility, guest house and art studio. The 20-acre farm is situated on a sunny hillside, tucked into a quiet, peaceful location above Blakely Harbor. It truly is a perfect backdrop for creative exploration.
Bainbridge Island is a short 35 minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle. This very popular destination is the perfect place for a getaway. With it's stunning natural beauty and gourmet restaurants, to it's quaint shops and cozy cafes, Winslow has something to offer for everyone.

Saturday 10am-5pm
Sunday 10am-4pm
Both days will have a 1 hr break for lunch which will be provided at the studio

Ephemera and papers you will use to collage: possible sources may be old letters or documents, sheet music, photos, photocopies of meaningful photos or memorabilia, magazine tears, images from books. (I will have a variety of papers to share too)
Matte or liquid gel medium.
Masking tape.
Acrylic paints – but bring a few of your favorite colors.
Gesso – white and / or black.
Your favorite mark making tools such as oil pastel, charcoal, stencils.
Pencil.
A small selection of paint brushes.
Small cup for water and brushes.
Your favorite supplies. You’ll have time to freestyle!

*Lodging is not included in the retreat price. The guest house at Wacky Nut Farm has 2 gorgeous bedrooms with a queen size bed each, as well as a deluxe bunk room that sleeps 2 very comfortably. Each room has their own bathroom!! These rent for $125 and $75 a night respectively. First come first serve. Upon registering, please email me if you'd like to rent a room at the farm. They are giving us special workshop rates and I encourage you to take advantage of this offer. The guest house is beautiful! First come, first serve. Please email me upon registering to reserve a room.
