Fall 2014

Welcome! I'm so glad that you've found us. Now that you are here, I invite you take a deep breathe, relax for a minute and imagine yourself surrounded by a beautiful landscape with trees as high as the sky, the smell of the sea fills the air and you're every need is taken care of.

Join us for the Nurture Your Creative seed art and life retreat which will be held at Wacky Nut Farm on beautiful Bainbridge Island, WA. I am so very excited to have Junelle Jacobsen as our guide for this very special weekend. We are in for some good fun as we delve into new ways of finding beauty in imperfection, share our stories and nurture ourselves with good, healthy food. This 3 night, 4 day all inclusive retreat will delight your senses, soothe your soul and elevate your creativity to new heights. This is a retreat for anyone, whether you are a skilled artist or have never picked up a paintbrush in your life.

As with a garden, our creative seeds must be sown in well-tended soil, watered, fed and nurtured. I believe we all have creative seeds that if given the right fertilizer and space to grow, our seeds will begin to sprout and grow into a beautiful garden. Allow yourself to take a break from your busy lives as we come together to connect, cultivate new friendships and replenish our creative wells. Let us unearth our flaws, celebrate our imperfections and connect to our natural surroundings. Our art will come from the heart and expand our horizons.  We'll use a variety of mediums, including, sketching, watercolors, photography, and sun printing to explore the beauty of imperfection.

This retreat is unique in that it is a small gathering with just 10 lovely gals.  We designed it this way to allow each of you to have time to discover new friendships and connections, as well as receive lots of personal guidance from our amazing teacher. You will be nurtured, supported and loved up on all weekend long. It is my deepest wish for each and every one who attends to feel this in their heart not only while you're at the retreat, but when you return home as well. Amazing things can happen when we open ourselves up to possibility and real connection. I truly hope you'll join us.

Whole Hearted Art

with Junelle Jacobsen

The first time driving onto Bainbridge Island was like entering a childhood fairy tale, heavenly wildness and green. In my creative work, it has become a muse of wonderful inspiration, giving me all kinds of rich and deeply-felt bases and mediums for my art.

Being a favorite of my heart in the spring, I can only imagine the brilliance of autumn!

This October is a time of gathering and nurturing in this divine space. It is time to come together as friends and art-sisters (beginners and advanced) to see and experience the holy in this place.

All of my creative loves for this time of year are on my list. This will be a retreat (from the world), but bring good shoes, this will be a whole-hearted adventure, too. We will be exploring new places, new mediums, and new artistic ideas. Our art will accompany us on field trips to town, onto the beach, and into wild gardens and harvesting vineyards.

As with all of Serena's retreats, divine moments will be shared and supported. We will honor the creative collective that comes together and love you in your own artistic journey with us. It will be a blessed time of goodness for us all.

All supplies are included. Of all the art supplies we needed, You sweet friend, are the most important one. Please come and see~

love & gesso

   Schedule of Events
On Thursday, October 16th, we will begin to gather at the farm around 4pm.  Once we are all together, we'll start with a little get to know you session before dinner.  Dinner will be at a nearby restaurant (included in the retreat fee). After dinner we'll head back to the farm for relaxation and conversation.

In attempt to leave the maximum amount of flexibility to our days and explorations, our schedule will be loose.  This will allow us to go the way the wind blows and leaves room for the unexpected.  Our days will include field trips to the farmer's market, beaches, pumpkin patch and vineyards (weather permitting).  In the event of stormy weather, we'll stay and create in the gorgeous art room at the Farm.
In general, we will be having breakfast between 7:30-9:00am (buffet style), followed by a morning creative session.  Lunch at mid day, followed by another creative session.  Dinner on Friday night is open for you to either head into town and enjoy one of our many fabulous restaurants, or relax at home and order in.  Saturday evening we will have a Mexican fiesta at Serena's house.

Location and accommodations

Bainbridge Island is a short 35 minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle.  This very popular destination is the perfect place for a getaway.  With it's stunning natural beauty and gourmet restaurants and to it's quaint shops and cozy cafes, Winslow has something to offer for everyone. While we will be at Wacky Nut Farm for most of our time together,  there is time in the schedule for some exploration around the island.   If your schedule allows for more time in this area, you will find an endless list of things of great things to do and explore.

Our retreat will be held at Wacky Nut Farm (great name eh?).  A sustainably designed, environmentally friendly equestrian facility, guest house and art studio.  The 20-acre farm is situated on a sunny hillside, tucked into a quiet, peaceful location above Blakely Harbor.  It truly is the perfect backdrop for our retreat.

Accommodations in the guest house will be shared.  There are two bedrooms with a queen bed and a deluxe bunk room that sleeps four.  These are extra long, super cozy bunks,  not like your average girl scout camp!
If you're coming with a friend and want to share a room together, please let me know.  Otherwise, the queen beds will be shared with one of your new friends.
Meals
Most of our healthy and gourmet meals and snacks will be lovingly prepared by me.  I love to cook and I love to share it will friends!  All meals are included in the retreat fee.   There will be a variety of non-alcoholic beverages provided. If you enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail at night, your welcome to bring your own.  I can accommodate any special dietary needs.  Just let me know when you're registering and I'll take care of you.

Registration details are found under the registration tab on the home page
